Pu-yan Nie, Takashi Matsuhisa, X. Game theory, as a branch of the applied mathematics, contributes insight into economics, sociology, and many other disciplines. Game theory has outstanding effects on the theory of economics, and the literature on applying game theoretical and related approaches to economics is growing rapidly, and yet many theoretical and empirical challenges remain in this field. The focus of this special issue is the application of game theory to problems in economics, including economic theory, microeconomics, industrial economics, and other application fields. The publication of this special issue can efficiently extend the applications of game theory and attracts the attention of economists to game theory. This special issue received high-quality manuscripts from 23 countries all over the world. After a strict review process, 25 high-quality papers are published.

Game Theory and Applications in Economics

Game theory , branch of applied mathematics that provides tools for analyzing situations in which parties, called players, make decisions that are interdependent. A solution to a game describes the optimal decisions of the players, who may have similar, opposed, or mixed interests, and the outcomes that may result from these decisions. Although game theory can be and has been used to analyze parlour games, its applications are much broader. In fact, game theory was originally developed by the Hungarian-born American mathematician John von Neumann and his Princeton University colleague Oskar Morgenstern , a German-born American economist, to solve problems in economics. In their book The Theory of Games and Economic Behavior , von Neumann and Morgenstern asserted that the mathematics developed for the physical sciences, which describes the workings of a disinterested nature, was a poor model for economics. The name may be somewhat of a misnomer—game theory generally does not share the fun or frivolity associated with games.

Game theory is the study of mathematical models of strategic interaction among rational decision-makers. Utilizing the power of automata is one way for presenting players with strategies. While standard equilibrium analysis assumes that all agents act rationally, behavioural game theory has extended the theoretic framework … Dear Colleagues, Recent years have seen an increase in the use of game theoretic concepts and tools e. In a follow up piece, Fama continued to argue that by and large markets were efficient despite the continued documentation of numerous anomalies. Consequently, the matrix that is used in this case works under the assumption that all factors are constant, and outside influences have a negligible impact.

This course is designed to introduce game theory to students who will later use game theoretic models in applied fields within economics. Our emphasis will keeping the level of mathematics to a minimum, especially at a level that should be quite All the books and journal articles are available at the EXIM BANK Library.

The Journal of Dynamics and Games JDG is a pure and applied mathematical journal that publishes high quality peer-review and expository papers in all research areas of expertise of its editors. It is devoted to the development and the diffusion of mathematical ideas and techniques that arise from the analysis and the modelling of systems where agents whether they be rational players, markets, plants, animals, ecosystems, communication systems, etc interact dynamically over time. Papers should either be motivated by challenging mathematical questions occurring in such systems or provide a rigorous mathematical analysis of models where tools from dynamics and games prove to be useful. All the research areas of expertise of JDG editors are covered.

Economics focuses on the behaviour and interactions of economic agents and how economies work. Microeconomics analyzes basic elements in the economy, including individual agents and markets , their interactions, and the outcomes of interactions. Individual agents may include, for example, households, firms, buyers, and sellers. Macroeconomics analyzes the economy as a system where production, consumption, saving, and investment interact, and factors affecting it: employment of the resources of labour, capital, and land, currency inflation , economic growth , and public policies that have impact on these elements.

Intended for upper-level undergraduates and MBA students, Game Theory with Economic Applications provides an introduction to the language and methods of game theory and to its use in understanding economics … We also conduct some numerical experiments to explore the effects of the fixed setup cost K and the ordering capacity Q on the optimal control policy. Y, and product subsidy and concluded that the optimal choice, depends on the governmental preference. This study characterizes the time to asymptotically reach fixation.
